Bringing 'Wow' to Life
Having been a diving instructor, underwater cameraman, and shark feeder in the 90s, David Groundwater has always been interested in fully immersive experiences.
In 2008, he founded River Film, which primarily produces films and CGI for real estate. River Film was an early adopter of immersive technologies and experiences, but David has long sought other avenues to explore where he could find more WOW.
During Covid, David saw an opportunity to repurpose retail venues as digital playgrounds of ideas. He was seeking a hero experience, which led him to meet Chris Elmendorp of VRGH in Amsterdam. Some friends had attended a party at Chris’s arena and were absolutely blown away.
Chris and David hit it off, sharing common values and ideas. David and his teenage daughters tested several free-roam immersive experiences in the UK, but none were as good, technically or in terms of fun factor, as VRGH. VRGH then became the obvious partner for WeWantWow.
